Hospital Director’s Search for Senior Housing for Her Father
Working in the healthcare environment, I never imagined that I would be overwhelmed and lost trying to navigate a safe housing solution for someone who has Alzheimer’s Disease. Especially not when that someone was my own father.
However the packet of information I was provided was overwhelming, and quite frankly, very scary. But I dug in and started making appointments and visiting facilities. I was bombarded with questions I had no idea how to answer. What’s his point status? Self pay? Does he need all night staffing? Can you bring a copy of the assessment?
I spent weeks away from work researching every possible lead with no success. Finally someone recommend Adult Care Pro—a free service for families. I called Lynn Rockstad, the president of Adult Care Pro. With four simple words she quieted all of my fears and anxiety. “We can help you.”
Within days we were visiting appropriate locations. When one location didn’t work out—they didn’t give up—they found another. They worked for days behind the scenes negotiating and pulled off a miracle for us and found the best placement possible for my father.
My father is now in a wonderful facility that meets his needs as well as the needs of the rest of my family. And very importantly, my mother is able to be his wife and not his caregiver.
He is safe. She is safe. And I am very grateful.
I will never be able to convey the depth of my gratitude for Lynn and all that she did for us. Sometimes in life you receive unexpected gifts that change your life. Adult Care Pro was that gift. More than a job to Lynn and her staff, it is a passion and a calling. Our community is blessed to have this agency working for our senior population.
